Abstract
Introduction: This study was aimed to review the complications of the laparoscopic adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma.
Materials and Methods: International databases including PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus were considered for search of English articles by 24 May 2019. Seventeen published articles were finally entered into the study. Keywords were adrenalectomy, laparoscopy, chromaffin, PC12 cells, pheochromocytoma and children or a combination of them in the title and abstracts.
Results: There were more than 647 individuals reviewed in this systematic review of 17 published articles consisted of 16 retrospective studies and one prospective study.
Conclusion: According to the results, laparoscopic adrenalectomy can be used safely with a short hospital stay and less hemorrhagia, short time of surgery and low-risk of recurrence for the management of pediatric adrenal pathology. It is suggested to undergo partial adrenalectomy, which provides steroid independent at long-term follow up.
